After graduating from Birmingham Medical School in 1995, Catherine worked as a house officer in Birmingham. She then spent time working in Perth, Australia, undertaking A&E and neurology posts. Catherine began her anaesthetic training in 1998, initially working as a senior house officer at Russells Hall Hospital, and later joining the Birmingham School of Anaesthesia’s registrar training rotation. With the exception of Hereford County Hospital, she has worked at all the other hospitals within the Birmingham School of Anaesthesia.
Catherine was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Russells Hall in 2005. Her clinical interests are obstetric anaesthesia, orthopaedic anaesthesia and ophthalmic anaesthesia. She has a longstanding interest in training and medical education, and was College Tutor at Russells Hall Hospital in 2015 for 3 years. She was then appointed as Training Programme Director for the Birmingham School of Anaesthesia in May 2018.
