Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust (WAHT)

WAHT is a split site trust with 3 different sites - Worcestershire Royal Hospital (WRH), Kidderminster Treatment Centre (KTC), and Alexandra Hospital (Alex) in Redditch, with WRH being the largest site. Most out-of-hours work is at WRH, but there is also some OOH at Redditch.

You will work at all 3 sites, sometimes (depending on modules) you may even work at all 3 sites in one week. Public transport between sites is difficult and so you will need your own transport.

Resident anaesthetic trainees work a 1 in 8 on-call rota across 5 tiers:

  1. WRH theatre anaesthetist - post IAC resident
  2. WRH obstetric anaesthetist - post IACOA resident
  3. WRH ICU resident  - post primary FRCA and completed stage 1 ICU
  4. Alex ICU resident - post primary FRCA and completed stage 1 ICU
  5. WRH senior registrar - post final FRCA

Further information on the 3 sites can be found below, or via the trust website.
