Emma trained in Oxford and London and worked in London, Wessex and Melbourne before moving to the West Midlands in 2009. She trained LTFT for most of her registrar training and was lucky to have held regional and national trainee representative roles before finally becoming a consultant in 2017.
Her clinical interests are in obstetrics and peri-operative medicine and most of her clinical sessions are at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Non-clinically she recognises the importance of support and
wellbeing to enable us to thrive at work (and at home).
She trained as a mentor in 2015 and has done work on managing fatigue and preventing suicide with the Association of Anaesthetists. She balances this work on the barriers to wellbeing with a keen interest in positive reporting systems (Learning from Excellence) and Appreciative Inquiry.
